Lily Miles (b.1998 South Yorkshire, UK) is a portrait and documentary photographer currently based in Brighton, predominantly working on analogue film. Her passion lies within capturing the authenticity of individuals, seeking to explore and celebrate those with unique paths.

Lily’s project practice has specialised in the visual depiction of societal taboos. In 2019, she graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Photography from Bath Spa University. Her project ‘Pink to Make the Boys Wink’ which unveiled the daily goings on of a local Sheffield Brothel ran by women, went on to win the South West Graduate Photography Prize that year. The project delved into the lives of the female sex workers and managers of the brothel, bringing to light an often concealed subject.

Her practice has since explored more unconventional themes with the project 'Mascara Queen' (2021). This project centers around Gaëlle, a 22-year-old diagnosed with Alopecia Areata during her late teens. Through portraiture, the project delves into Gaëlle's relationship with hair loss, a commonly associated aspect of femininity, and the challenges it poses for a young woman navigating early adulthood.

Lily’s work has been recognised in the British Journal of Photography’s Portrait of Britain Award having been selected as a winner in 2023 and 2022.

Lily is available for commissions and assisting work.
